The Misericordia Women's Board was founded in 1921 by its first President, Mrs. Frances McCormick McGuire. Mrs. McGuire enabled hundreds of Women's Board members to support the mission of Misericordia.
The purpose of the Women's Board is to promote and support the work of Misericordia by means of volunteering and fundraising. The Women's Board fundraising initiatives include:
Annual Angel Appeal Campaign:
The Women's Board's Angel Appeal has been a major source of funding for Misericordia since the 1980's. This annual campaign brings loyal donors from all over the country, whose gifts range from $25 to $100,000. All donations are most gratefully received and are used to support the programs that enrich the lives of more than 600 children and adults who call Misericordia home. Heart of Mercy Ball:
The Misericordia Women's Board hosts the annual Heart of Mercy Ball, which will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Hilton Chicago. This elegant event has raised millions in funds for Misericordia over the years.
A highlight of the evening is the presentation of the Heart of Mercy Award, the Sister Rosemary Connelly Service Medallion, and the Pillars of the Community to individuals who are recognized for their extraordinary commitment to the mission of Misericordia. Christmas at the Home:
The Women's Board Christmas at the Home is an annual tradition. Women's Board Members and their guests get together in December at Misericordia to celebrate the holiday season and the blessing of Misericordia. The day includes shopping, lunch, and a program that includes the Misericordia Heartbreakers.
Christmas at the Home will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
Please note that funds raised by the Misericordia Foundation go directly to support Misericordia Home’s programs and services. The Misericordia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
