Misericordia Women's League
The Misericordia Women's League is an organization whose committed mission is to raise funds for and provide service to Misericordia Home through the Misericordia Foundation.
The Women’s League was established in the Spring of 1996 by a small group of women from the western suburbs. This generous group, now over 180 strong in members, contributes year-long to the lives of Misericordia residents through volunteer work and fundraising.
Misericordia Women's League Heart of Gold Benefit 2026
Heart of Gold
The Women’s League hosts its annual Heart of Gold Benefit every February or March. More than 700 friends, family members, Misericordia supporters and League members come together each year for a night of entertainment, live and silent auctions, paddle raise, raffles, bakery sales and so much more!
Over the past 30 years, the League has raised nearly $14.5 million to support Misericordia, thanks to the generous contributions of loyal sponsors and event attendees.
The League also presents its Heart of Gold Award each year at the benefit, which is awarded to those who exemplify compassion, generosity and an unwavering commitment to serving others. In 2026, the award was renamed the Sister Rosemary Connelly Heart of Gold Award to honor the life and mission of Misericordia’s beloved Sister Rosemary.
Volunteering
Women’s League members have made a significant impact on the Misericordia community through their volunteer efforts. Each year, League members spend time volunteering with residents on campus and helping out in the bakery, adopting residents for a Secret Santa program at Christmas, assisting in running the BUMS golf outing, running the raffle and t-shirt sales at Family Fest and leading Candy Days in the western suburbs. Women’s League members continue to help spread the ministry of Misericordia through their dedication of time and talents both on Misericordia’s campus and in the community.
Member Social
Beyond volunteering, Women’s League members gather throughout the year for social outings that build connection and camaraderie. Activities such as Trivia Night, Holiday Luncheon, Galentine’s Party and the Year-End Luncheon offer opportunities to get to know fellow members and create meaningful memories.
Please note that funds raised by the Misericordia Foundation go directly to support Misericordia Home’s programs and services.
The Misericordia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
