Misericordia offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and we are confident that there is an opportunity to fit the personality and schedule of just about everyone! We offer weekday, weeknight and weekend opportunities that take place on our campus located at 6300 N. Ridge Ave., (at the corner of Devon & Ridge), in Chicago If it is a regular weekly commitment that you are looking to make, we have a list of opportunities to choose from. We update that list regularly as volunteer openings and opportunities become available. In order to create a stable environment for our residents, Misericordia does require each “regular” volunteer to commit to a minimum of two - three hours per week for at least a 6-12 month term. To become a volunteer, fill out a volunteer application (click link below). After submitting an application, you will be invited for an orientation class (this is a mandatory session) that is generally held once a month. Orientation is where you will learn about Misericordia, the campus, the residents, the opportunities available, the dos and don'ts, and how you can make a positive difference for those who live here at Misericordia. Please be aware, it is possible that placement could take up to 4-5 weeks depending on when your application and references are received. We take several steps to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents so patience is a needed virtue!
