HR Generalist

We have an immediate opening for a Human Resources (HR) Generalist. This position comes with the opportunity to join a team that is being rebuilt and looking to meet the needs of our employees who are dedicated to providing care and support to the residents who call Misericordia Home. We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist who is looking to bring their skills to our department while developing meaningful and mission driven relationships with those in the department and the larger workforce of Misericordia Home. The needs and the challenges of the Misericordia workforce are changing and growing; with this comes the opportunity to bring a talented HR Generalist to the team.

The HR Generalist is responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks as part of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. The HR Generalist will coordinate and administer employment policies, procedures and programs in the functions of onboarding, leave administration, employment policies and procedures, performance, and reporting, federal hiring reports; and other related employment duties. The Generalist will have an extensive knowledge of personnel policy and procedure and federal and state laws regarding employment practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years Human Resources Generalist experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and superior interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven ability to work in a diverse workforce; Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and staff.
  • Strong word processing and record keeping skills and proficiency in computer productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with HRIS systems.
  • Be an impartial steward for the organization advocating for employees and the business, and modeling company values.
  • Public-speaking ability, able to represent mission of Misericordia.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships internally and as a representative of Misericordia.
  • Salary is commensurate with experience.

 

Payroll Specialist

We have an immediate opening for a skilled, full-time Payroll Specialist in our HR Department. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person who has the passion and vision to not only contribute to the HR Team, but also have a broader scope of interactions and involvement with the larger organization.

The Payroll Specialist will be instrumental in supporting upgrades to our payroll and scheduling platform in addition to managing payroll for employees. Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of tax laws, Fair Work Week and industry wage policies.

Our HR department is growing to meet current and future needs of the organization. This position comes with opportunities for growth within the department and organization. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the HR Team and department heads to ensure compliance and facilitate/oversee ongoing education related to many aspects of payroll and timekeeping systems. Qualifications:

  • Full Time (40 hours) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent years of related work experience
  • At least 4 years of payroll processing and administrative experience and/or payroll certification preferred

Developmental Training Instructors/Trainers

We are currently looking to hire full-time Developmental Training Instructors/Trainers for our Developmental Training program. This position is Monday-Friday (8am-4pm). No weekends.

Qualifications:

  • DT Instructors (DTIs) and DT Trainers (DTTs) must have a minimum of one year experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities.
  • DTIs and DTTs must be able to complete 4 weeks of training upon hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree required for DTI position – preferably in human services or another related field including but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling or psychology.
  • Highschool Diploma required for DTT position.
  • Rate of pay based on education.
  • DTIs and DTTs will develop lesson plans, goals and objectives through creating relationships with community partners, while interacting with ease and confidence.
  • Must have the ability to develop quality services for programs participants.
  • Ability to demonstrate reliability, flexibility, adaptability, professionalism and work independently/without supervision.
  • Must be current with COVID-19 Vaccinations, including a booster, if eligible.

Pay: $18.00 per hour; $19 w/ Bachelor's Degree

 

Recreation Specialist/Special Olympics Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation or related Activity field required.
  • 1 year or more of experience working with persons with Intellectual disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with Recreation team members as well as volunteers in planning a variety of on campus and community events (concerts, parties, sporting events).
  • Special Olympics planning and coaching experience in a variety of sports.
  • In addition to Special Olympics, plan and facilitate quality, person-centered leisure activity programs in Music, Creative Arts, Wellness, & Fitness, while adapting them to meet the needs of all ability levels.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills; provide direct care staff with instruction on Active Treatment techniques and activities during regularly scheduled programming.
  • Evenings and alternate weekends (flexible hours).
  • Good time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Pay is $19.00 per hour w/ Bachelor's Degree; $20.00 per hour w/ Therapy Certification

 

Recreation Specialist-Music

  • Assist with Special Olympics events as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills; provide direct care staff with instruction on Active Treatment techniques and activities during regularly scheduled programming.

QIDP

We have an opening for a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) working on our campus with our wonderful residents.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • QIDP must have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required– preferably in human services or another related field including but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling or psychology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • QIDPs oversee the needs of the resident's programs, goals and community outings amongst many other facets of daily life. QIDPs work closely with Supervisors, DSPs and Guardians to ensure quality care and programming for our residents.
  • Committed to ensuring the rights of residents.
  • Ability to manage time and resources while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work variety of shifts/hours and supervise as required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.

 

Kitchen Aide

We are hiring 3 full-time kitchen aides to work on our Rogers Park campus. The kitchen aide’s core purpose is to clean all dishes and equipment pertaining to food service throughout the shift. Responsible for cleaning and keeping clean kitchen floors, cafeteria, dining room, and dishwashing area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of equipment to be used in food service department
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Able to work Weekends, Holidays and Morning/Early Afternoon Shifts
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen/restaurant environment, preferred
  • GED/HSD not required
  • Kitchen aide pay rate: $16.25/hr

 

Recreation Aide

We are looking to hire one full-time Recreation Aide to work in our Rosemary and Connelly homes. Flexibility in schedule to accommodate the needs of the unit and residents (Hours 12:30pm-8:30pm or 1pm-9pm).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a DSP and have 1 year of experience working with people with multiple disabilities.
  • Ability to work with a team and foster a positive environment.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and self-motivated- able to organize a variety of leisure-based activities (example. music, arts and crafts, interactive games).
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement both individualized and team activities.
  • Complete paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work & plan leisure activities for individuals with a variety of physical needs.
  • Strong leadership, team and organizational skills.

 

Housekeeper

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Multiple full-time Housekeeper openings for the 7am-3 pm day shift.
  • Previous housekeeping experience required and availability to work weekends.
  • Housekeeper pay rate: $16.25 per hour (additional differential for working weekends)
