Payroll Specialist

Are you a highly-skilled Payroll professional? We have an exciting opportunity for the right person who has the passion and vision to contribute to the HR Team!

The Payroll Specialist will be instrumental in supporting upgrades to our payroll and scheduling platform in addition to managing payroll for employees. Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of tax laws, Fair Work Week and industry wage policies. They will work closely with the HR Team and department heads to ensure compliance and facilitate/oversee ongoing education related to many aspects of payroll and timekeeping systems.

Qualifications:

  • Full Time (40 hours) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent years of related work experience
  • At least 4 years of payroll processing and administrative experience and/or payroll certification preferred
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local payroll laws and compensation
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to engage, interact and communicate easily with a diverse workforce
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Professional Development Trainer:

This is an exciting, brand new opportunity for someone who is passionate about training and engagement with employees! The Professional Development Trainer plays an integral role in providing new staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to continuously contribute to the overall quality of life for our residents. It will also include maintaining training requirements for current staff and developing new learning opportunities for employee growth and retention. You will have an opportunity to identify new training needs, assist with the development of training initiatives, and work with a dynamic team!  

Qualifications for the Professional Development Trainer are as follows:

  • Must have experience working with and teaching adult learners. 
  • Possess a background in healthcare; preferably have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. 
  • Proven experience with curriculum oversight, creative teaching practices, and ability to assess skillsets and competencies for new and existing employees.  
  • Ability to teach both large groups and individuals.  
  • Excellent written, communication, and organizational skills.  
  • Possess passion for learning, teaching, and motivating others.  
  • Must be a problem solver, self-starter, and highly adaptable.  
  • Experience in leadership development is highly encouraged.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Must be fully current with COVID vaccinations, including a booster dose, if eligible.

Night Pastry Chef

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience as a baker.
  • Must be available to work: 3pm to 11pm during August 1st to January 1st, then 10am to 6pm during January 2nd to July 31st

SKILLS:

Packaging/Quality Control Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of equipment used in the Packaging Room Department
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs.

Cook

Misericordia is looking to hire an experienced cook with a passion to contribute to our mission by preparing food that is appealing in presentation and taste, while meeting the dietary needs of our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • To prepare and serve food which is properly prepared, free of contamination, having proper texture, good taste, pleasant visible appeal and meets all time temperature regulations.
  • Follow menu and recipes as listed in kitchen for that day and check for preparation of next day’s menu.
  • Keep accurate records of food temperatures on a meal by meal basis.
  • Clean and sanitize work area and equipment as needed.
  • Make sure special tray list are followed as written. Keep list updated and organized.
  • Sees that the Food Service Director and Maintenance is notified of non-functioning equipment immediately.
  • Bring all food supplies that are needed for the day up to the kitchen.
  • Help with preparing or cooking for special events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of refrigerator and freezer, making sure food is properly labeled and organized.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Food Service Director.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of equipment to be used in food service.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have 2 years experience as a cook.
  • Ability to work alone and cooperatively with others.
  • Food Service Sanitation Certification/Certified Food Protection Manager training
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted (if booster-eligible)

We are currently looking to hire full-time DSPs to work in our Community Day Services programs. This position is Monday-Friday from 8AM-4PM.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED.
  • This is an entry level position working directly with our residents. You do not need to have any previous experience in this field to be considered for this position.
  • 4 weeks of full-time paid training is provided and required to become certified as a DSP at Misericordia Home (regardless of previous training).
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must meet federal (I9) and State requirements (i.e., fingerprinting, background check, etc.)
  • Must be current with COVID-19 Vaccinations, including a booster, if eligible.

AS A CDS DSP YOU WILL:

  • Help our residents with tasks throughout the day and provide direct care such as toileting, showering and feeding.
  • Assist our residents with various recreational activities, programs and goals.
  • Provide supervision and attention throughout the day to ensure the safety of residents.

Recreation Aide

We are looking to hire one full-time Recreation Aide to work in our Rosemary and Connelly homes. Flexibility in schedule to accommodate the needs of the unit and residents (Hours 12:30pm-8:30pm or 1pm-9pm).

Community Day Services Instructor (CDSI)

The role of the Instructor/Trainer position in Engage Chicago is to support participant directed activities that are integrated into Chicagoland communities. Candidates should feel comfortable assisting participants in finding, developing, and accessing community partners on a daily basis, and exploring areas of interest in the community, to include those that are employment related. Ideal candidates would engage with community organizations, and enjoy supporting individuals in a variety of community settings. A CDS Instructor/Trainer may also be asked to assist with employment centered training (job coaching) in the community. The ideal candidate would be comfortable under high pressure situation, and handling emergency situations as they occur, and frequent changes in daily settings and duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one year experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities
  • Has a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and is comfortable driving vehicles of all sizes
  • Ability to work without direct supervision the entire shift, and positively represent Misericordia

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation or related Activity field required.

  • Assist with Special Olympics events as needed.

We are hiring 3 full-time kitchen aides to work on our Rogers Park campus. The kitchen aide’s core purpose is to clean all dishes and equipment pertaining to food service throughout the shift. Responsible for cleaning and keeping clean kitchen floors, cafeteria, dining room, and dishwashing area.

  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

We are hiring for a housekeeper on our 31 acre campus on the Northside of Chicago.

This position is for the day shift, (6am-2pm) with the availability to work 3 weekends a month.

Job Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Previous housekeeping experience, minimum of 1 year, required.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license
  • Weekends are required
  • Must have the ability to complete work independently and with a team.

We are currently looking to hire full-time Developmental Training Instructors/Trainers for our Developmental Training program. This position is Monday-Friday (8am-4pm)

Qualifications:

  • DT Instructors (DTIs) and DT Trainers (DTTs) must have a minimum of one year experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities.
  • DTIs and DTTs must be able to complete 4 weeks of training upon hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree required for DTI position – preferably in human services or another related field including but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling or psychology.
  • Highschool Diploma required for DTT position.
  • Rate of pay based on education.
  • Must have the ability to develop quality services for programs participants.
  • Ability to demonstrate reliability, flexibility, adaptability, professionalism and work independently/without supervision.
  • Must be current with COVID-19 Vaccinations, including a booster, if eligible.

AS A DTI/DTT you will:

  • DTIs and DTTs will develop lesson plans, goals and objectives through creating relationships with community partners, while interacting with ease and confidence.
