Olympic Gold Medalist visits Misericordia!
Olympic swimmer and Winnetka native, Conor Dwyer, stopped by his old stomping grounds on Thursday, September 20. Welcomed by more than sixty residents, Conor shared his story of swimming success after we watched his gold medal performance as the second leg of the USA 4x200-meter freestyle relay team at the London Olympics.
Son of Patrick and Jeanne Dwyer, Conor is no stranger to Misericordia. In fact, his connection goes back three generations! His great-grandmother, Mrs. Walter McGuire, was a founding member of the Misericordia Women’s Board back in 1921 and currently, mom Jeanne, is a member of the Friends of Misericordia.
Conor had no problem fielding questions from the residents about how much he has to train, what he eats, how long he has been a swimmer, what other sports he plays and his favorite question.....Is he available on Wednesday evenings for Special Olympics swim practice?
To express our gratitude that Conor is part of the Misericordia Family, residents Sean and Rhonda presented Conor with a Misericordia beach towel and t-shirt.
