Women's Board
Misericordia Women’s Board
The Misericordia Women’s Board began in 1921 through the effort of its first President, Mrs. Walter McGuire, as the original volunteer group. The purpose of the group is to promote and support the work of Misericordia by means of volunteering and fundraising.
Major Events:
Each November, the Women’s Board hosts the Heart of Mercy Ball in Downtown Chicago. The annual ball has raised millions in funds for Misericordia over the years through a fantastic night of auctions, raffles, a paddle raise, and personal and corporate sponsorships. Each year, honorees for the Heart of Mercy award, the Sister Rosemary Connelly Service Medallion, and the Pillars of the Community Award, are recognized for their commitment to the mission of Misericordia.

Christmas at the Home: Women’s Board members and their guests come together to celebrate the season and the blessing of Misericordia each December on Misericordia’s stunning campus. Christmas boutiques and the Misericordia gift shop are all open. After enjoying an afternoon of shopping and delicious food, members and guests even get the opportunity to see Misericordia’s own Heartbreakers perform!
Autumnal Mass and Luncheon: The annual gathering each fall is an opportunity for both active and sustaining members. Women’s Board members attend mass on Misericordia’s campus to give thanks, remember loved ones, and celebrate unity as a Board. Mass is followed by a wonderful lunch.
Volunteering:
Women’s Board members support the mission of Misericordia through various volunteer opportunities. Members help sell raffle tickets at Family Fest, participate in Candy Days each April throughout Chicago and its surrounding area, as well as volunteer in the Hearts and Flour Bakery and Greenhouse Inn throughout the week.
