Community Access
Community Access: A goal for many participants is to gain more independence in community settings, while at the same time expand their social networks. The Community Access program works with participants to explore the immediate and greater Chicagoland neighborhood resources, and participate in community integrative activity, and subsequently growing their social base. The Community Access staff create classroom-based lesson plans that then culminate into a community experience. The Community Access program continuously looks for new community partner businesses, groups, resources, and organizations, and in particular, look for reciprocal relationships, where the participants can give back as well. Participants have the opportunity to learn about new occupations and the skills performed in a variety of work settings. As well, participants learn how to use community resources, and in particular, the resources of their surrounding neighborhood.
