Physical and Occupational Therapists
As the therapeutic needs of the individuals who live at Misericordia are constantly increasing, the therapy department is looking for a qualifed Physical and Occupational Therapist(s) who are willing to make a contribution to individuals with developmental disabilities by enhancing their lives through therapeutic services.
The therapy department at Misericordia consists of a dynamic team of OTs, PTs, Speech therapists, therapy aides, a consulting Orthotist and Physiatrist who provide a systems approach in delivering the necessary services for children and adults who call Misericordia home. The department offers therapy clinics, orthotics clinics, oral-motor clinics, augmented alternative communication clinics and wheelchair clinics on campus for the individuals who work and live at +Misericordia. Splinting and casting is also completed within the department.
Therapeutic services are provided in a variety of settings which include: a therapy treatment wing consisting of a treatment room, a state of the art hydro pool, and a multi-sensory room that provides a calming and relaxing treatment environment. Along with the therapy wing, therapeutic services are also provided at our newly constructed aquatics and fitness center. All areas are equipped with the most modern specialized equipment on the market today.
Therapists are responsible for completing assessments and/or written evaluations, making recommendations, developing treatment plans and carrying out therapeutic services. Therapists supervise therapeutic services delivered by non-professional staff. It is also the responsibility of the therapists to conduct campus-wide educational in-services on current therapeutic issues and on clinical developments within the field.
Qualified candidates need to be licensed and registered as an Occupational Therapist and/or Physical Therapist with at least 2-3 years experience. Experience with orthotics and adaptive specialized functional equipment is a plus.
